DeckMemo

Move your cards to DeckMemo

Bring your decks with you. Files go straight from your device into your library — nothing is uploaded. In DeckMemo, the same guide is under + › Moving from Another App (iPhone), Settings › Library, or Help on Mac.

From Anki

  1. On a computer, open Anki and choose File › Export.
  2. Choose Anki Deck Package (.apkg) and the deck you want.
  3. Tick Include media and Support older Anki versions, then export.
  4. Send the file to your iPhone, iPad or Mac (AirDrop, iCloud Drive or email) and open it with DeckMemo — or use Import Anki Deck in the app.

Decks, images, tags, clozes and review intervals come across; audio doesn't. A deck named Course::Deck becomes a folder with a deck inside. Shared decks downloaded from ankiweb.net open the same way. If a file was exported without “Support older Anki versions”, DeckMemo will ask you to export it again with that box ticked.

Prefer text? Anki's Notes in Plain Text export also works with Import CSV or Text; DeckMemo reads its header lines and converts the formatting.

From Quizlet

  1. In a web browser, open your set on quizlet.com.
  2. Click ⋯ › Export.
  3. Keep Tab between term and definition and New line between rows, then click Copy text.
  4. In DeckMemo, choose Paste from Quizlet or Noji and paste.

Terms and definitions come across; images don't. If you picked other separators, set the same ones in DeckMemo.

From Noji

  1. In Noji, open the deck and its Settings.
  2. Tap Export deck and choose CSV.
  3. Save the file to Files (or open it and copy the text).
  4. In DeckMemo, choose Import CSV or Text — or Paste from Quizlet or Noji if you copied the text.

Text and clozes come across. Noji's CSV doesn't include images or image occlusion, and Noji's OFC backup format can't be opened by other apps.

From spreadsheets and other apps

  1. Export or save your cards as CSV, with one column for questions and one for answers. Google Sheets, Excel, Numbers and most flashcard apps can.
  2. In DeckMemo, choose Import CSV or Text and pick which columns hold the question, answer, deck and tags.

Multiple-choice questions can be written in a Choices column, like Select one: ✓ Paris | Lyon | Nice.

From another DeckMemo user

They open the deck's ⋯ menu › Share Deck and send you the .deckmemo file. Memos, images and drawings come too.

Taking your cards elsewhere

Your cards are never locked in. Open a deck's ⋯ menu › Export Cards:

Memos, images, drawings and occlusion boxes only travel in .deckmemo files.
